Tommaso Varisco

Veneto-born songwriter from the island of Chioggia. Unique landscapes between land and sea divided by the low and dark waters of the lagoon have mixed over the years with musical inspirations belonging to a world that seemed very far away at the time. "My musical education began with the silences at the piano of Thelonious Monk, the romanticism of Chet Baker, the Latin sax of Gato Barbieri, and the voice of Tom Waits. Rock came later with the discovery of the 60s: The Doors, Cream and Neil Young among all. I have always dreamed of writing songs, but not playing any instrument, I limited myself to poems that I then translated into English." Things changed around the age of 20 when some friends urged him to buy an acoustic guitar. That's how the songs of All The Seasons of the Day were born and the feeling of being an arrow ready to leave the bow. "I tried to emulate my idols writing like Pearl Jam or Kurt Cobain, but I also loved the Art Rock of dEUS and the compositional sensitivity of Grant Lee Phillips." Sometimes, however, things don't go as we expect, and that's how All The Seasons All The Seasons remained closed in a drawer for twenty years. In the meantime, he had temporary jobs, short-lived bands, troubled relationships, albums written and never released, and the desire to quit once and for all. "Despite some of my records being written about in Buscadero, Rumore, Alias, Rockerilla, It’s Psychedelic Baby Magazine, and my songs being broadcast both by Radiorai and abroad, looking back it was easier to see the things that didn't happen." After a few years of inactivity, he met Lorenzo Mazzilli who invited him to open some concerts organized by him and started recording All The Seasons of The Day, which was released in November 2019. The two are now working on Varisco's entire catalog and new projects. At the end of 2022, the release of a new album titled "These Gloves" is expected, which features not only Mazzilli, but also Stella Burns, Swanz The Lonely Cat, Linda Varagnolo (Envoy Lebrave, Lake Soma). In 2022, he also opened for American guitarist Buck Curran (formerly of Arborea) and English multi-instrumentalist Duke Garwood (with Mark Lanegan, his most important collaboration). "I quit when my first child was born, but deep down I knew it wouldn't end there, and I'm glad I came back".
